Praz de Lys is a little jewel in the shadow of Mt Blanc that is often overlooked by school groups, to the benefit of those schools that do make the trip. The resort links with Sommand to provide a combined and varied 65km of skiing that is ample for any school over the week.
The resort is such a hidden secret amongst schools that it is highly unlikely you will meet other school ski groups, meaning less queues at lifts and safer, uncrowded pistes.
At an altitude of 1500-2000m facing Mt Blanc with its own micro-climate of guaranteed snow, Praz de Lys - Sommand is composed of two traditional French villages. Made famous with Nordic Ski races, the resort is also an established skating and classic skiing destination, regularly hosting events throughout the year.
The accommodation is built with pistes literally outside, and the ESF meeting point is a mere 100m away. Our school ski trip benefit from skiing straight back to the hotel and with a fairly equal mix of pistes for all abilities the resort ticks most parties' requirements.
Because of the proximity of the pistes, the ski hire and the airport, this option is great for air groups. Coach groups will additionally benefit from visiting other nearby resorts in the evening.
