Sugarloaf, known to locals as 'The Loaf', has an impressive 860m vertical drop, as well as one of the longest seasons on the West Coast. Last year the resort opened for 321ski school ski trips in mid November and finally closed their doors on May 12th!
One reason for this is that Sugarloaf is able to augment natural snow on over 90% of its trails, with a colossal 1000 cannons. This guarantees snow-sure slopes and carefully groomed slopes for all of our school groups throughout the season.
Beginner pupils start on the 'The Birches' and 'The Landing' - two dedicated areas devoted to those learning. This gentle sloping area safeguardes against more experienced skiers colliding with snaking beginner pupils on the pistes.
A real mountain for 'differentiation by ability' in terms of learning, the nearby slightly steeper slopes of 'The Double Runner Area' allow those on the second day to develop and challenge their skills before progressing again onto 'The Whiffletree' and 'West Mountain' areas. Finally pupils will tackle the 'King Pine Bowl' - a natural snow bowl that attracts significant snowfall and offers both moguls and steep groomed fall line trails.
321ski has two accommodation options next to the slopes: Sugarloaf Condomoniums and Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel. Both offer 'ski in and ski out', 321ski's free entry to Sugarloaf Sports and Fitness Centre and close access to evening activities (at a small supplement).
This resort offers great value for money and is always popular with our school groups.
321ski maximises your time in resort by offering 4 hours of ski instruction a day, over 5 days. Hot breakfast and a 3 course evening meal are taken at the nearby base lodge and lunches are brought on the mountain (circa 10-12 dollars).
With a visit to Boston on the flyover, this means that our school groups ski one of the USA's greatest resorts and still get to enjoy one of the World's greatest cities on their own bespoke school ski trip.
